As true believers in Christ we know that everything we own belongs to God and we are merely stewards of these temporal belongings. The way we sacrificially give of ourselves, our money and our possessions is tangible proof of our deep love for God and our commitment to His Eternal Plan and Purpose which to a degree determines our Eternal Rewards.
THE POWER OF A LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT
So what happens when the day comes that our life in this temporal world is over and the Lord takes us home to Glory — and is it possible for us to keep laying up “Treasure in Heaven” even after we are departed? I believe the best answer to that question is perhaps found in the very pattern set by our Lord Jesus Christ Himself.
Despite the fact that Jesus ministered abundant life, healing, deliverance, hope and joy to multiplied thousands during His brief 3 1/2 years of earthly ministry — it was not until after He had died on the Cross and rose again from the dead that His ministry, work and eternal purposes truly exploded in the earth and over the last 2,000 years literally billions of souls have heard and responded to the marvellous message of eternal life and the myriad of benefits His precious blood paid for!
HOW COULD THIS BE — it was all accomplished through HIS WILL — the Last Will and Testament of our Lord Jesus Christ — and all that His Will recorded therein and declared paid for in full to usher in the proclamation of His divine Word and Promises to the entire world!
In like manner, you and I can continue to add to whatever treasures we have already laid up in heaven during our earth walk by remembering the Work and Passion of the Lord in our Last Will and Testament.
WHY LEAVE A SPIRITUAL LEGACY?
Your personal life testimony is of tremendous value. As a believer with a heart for souls you will leave behind a great “Spiritual Heritage” for your children and grandchildren to follow and by God’s grace your life and example will inspire and encourage future generations to understand the immense value of each and every eternal soul and to do even greater exploits for God.
Like the Apostle Paul, you have declared, “I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ for it is the power of God unto salvation.” Romans 1:16
You have hearkened unto the Last Command and Mandate of our blessed Lord who said, “And this Gospel of the Kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto All Nations.” Matthew 24:14
Jesus Himself stated, “Where your treasure is, there will be your heart also!” Matthew 6:21
And as the great missionary statesman of the past C.T. Studd said, “If Jesus Christ be God and died for me, then no sacrifice can be too great for me to make for Him.”
Your Last Will and Testament will reflect the passion of Christ’s heart as seen shining through the passion of your heart for souls when you leave a Spiritual Legacy that keeps reaching the lost for Jesus!
